Drew on the Moselle list we moved from Yahoo to io we had pdf files. They moved over into io without any problems. Not sure what you mean that io won't accept them. I have multiple examples where they are there and open just fine.
We have docx, we have pdf, we have rft, we have xls, we have tif, and jpg.
We did have to move photo files into the photo file area instead of just the file area but that was not a big deal. They are there.
Just thought you might want to know.

As to IO. .. . .
In order to incorporate photos with a recipe, a recipe needs to be in a PDF format.
As all IO groups file storage areas do not accept any individual image format.

I am not an owner of the list. I am not even diabetic but there are people in my inner circle who are. So I joined to get recipes that work for them when they are over here visiting.
I do handle 3 other lists in one way or another but I did not do any movement of files or membership.
